Osvaldo Chacon y su Timba is firmly established as the only
dedicated Timba band
you can regularly hear in London at places like Mo Mo's and the resturaunt
"Cubana" (Look at gig dates). The

Salsa Afro Cubana cd The group has played at a number of festivals and they are one of the leading and original exponents of Cuban salsa, particularly Timba, here in the UK. Osvaldo Chacon has also played with many of the leading bands in Cuba including- Paulito FG for a short while, then El Medico de la Salsa for two years, and Bamboleo (CD 'Te Gusto o Te Caigo Bien'). Since taking up residency in London, he has also been requested to support bands such as Adalberto Santiago of Fania All Stars, Tito Allen and Azuquita, in Toros y Salsa Festival, France. He has appeared alongside Celia Cruz, , Ruben Blades, Oscar de Leon, El Canario (Festival Salsa Latina, July 00). He was invited to sing with Herman Olivera (Eddie Palmieri) and was the lead singer with Roberto Pla at Ronnie Scotts. He also played with them at the Scottish Jazz Festival with Michel Camilo and appeared with Chick Corea. Chacon was invited to sing alongside the great salsa percussionist Hiovani Hidalgo at the Queen Elizabeth Hall & others. Chacon

The Millennium Dome, World Beat Festival - Morecambe Bay, Brighton Arts
Festival, Smollenskys on the Strand, Farfield Halls - Croydon,
the Hilton
Hotel Multimedia awards and the Alternative Arts Latin Festival among
others. Chacon has supported Eddie
Palmieri at Queen Elizabeth Hall as the invited lead vocalist
for Tumbaito. In 2002 Chacon y Su Timba, Osvaldo's own band,
supported
Eddie
Palmieri
in a similarly successful concert. In November 2003 the band played at
the London Jazz Festival in association with BBC Radio 3 and www.serious.org.
Here the band supported the bossa nova legend, Johnny Alf and Alaide
Costa at the Queen Elizabeth Hall. Oh, and just in case you are asked: he is a friendly, serious musician. I have it on the best authority that he is also a great dancer!! This is London's best Timba make an effort to hear it LIVE!
